IndyCar: 2023 Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America: Full weekend race schedule | IndyCar

The IndyCar paddock can breathe deeply after a hectic May and a quick rotation to Detroit’s new downtown street circuit. The series will now have a weekend off before the next event, which will take place on one of North America’s most iconic road courses. Elkhart Lake will be the location for the next event, as riders take to the Road America 4-mile course.

Among the current drivers, only Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden have two victories on the circuit. Arrow McLaren teammates Alexander Rossi and Felix Rosenqvist each have a win, as does Team Penske’s Will Power and today’s Detroit winner Alex Palou. Palou’s victory came in 2021 – his league season. Newgarden is the defending winner of the race.

This could be the opportunity for Romain Grosjean to finally win his first race victory. The Andretti Autosport driver loves this track and has finished in the top five in each of his two starts. He desperately needs another great result to get back into the championship chase after his crash in Detroit today. His teammate Colton Herta was also quick here, finishing 8th, 5th, 5th, 2nd and 5th in five starts.

The weekend begins with Friday afternoon training. Saturday will be busy with another practice session in the morning, followed by qualifying in the afternoon. Sunday’s race coverage on USA Network begins at 1 p.m. ET as 27 drivers compete for 55 laps. The 4,014 mile road course has been fully paved since last year, which will kick off another interesting dynamic into the weekend.
