The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best defenses in the NFL, which will continue to be the case heading into the 2023 NFL season.
However, the Cowboys will likely want to address the immediate future of one player in particular before the start of the 2023 campaign in September, with Trevor Diggs heading into the final year of his rookie contract.
Diggs far exceeded expectations while playing for Dallas and quickly became one of the best cornerbacks in the league, which means he’s on the way to a big payday.
Luckily for Diggs, it looks like contract extension talks have officially begun, according to BroBible’s Dov Kleiman.
Report: The #Cowboys and CB Trevon Diggs have had preliminary discussions about a possible contract extension.
The market value of major CBs is around $20 million per year.

With some of the best players in his position earning far more than he currently does, Diggs could head into the 2023 NFL season becoming a very wealthy man like his brother Stefon Diggs is with the Buffalo Bills as the one of the best wide receivers in the game. .
Although Diggs wasn’t an All-Pro like he was during the 2021 season, he earned his second Pro Bowl nod after recording three interceptions, 14 passes defended and a fumble recovery while playing in all 17 regular season games for the Cowboys.
As a vital part of the Cowboys defense, the team will likely do everything possible to keep Diggs happy and in Dallas for the foreseeable future.
Dallas will have a perfect opportunity in 2023 to take advantage of a relatively weak NFC, with the team expected to be heavyweights on both sides of football, with Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons paving the way for the storied franchise.
